I know that your powers of retention
Are as wet as a warthog's backside
But thick as you are, pay attention
My words are a matter of pride
That's "Be Prepared" from The Lion King. I hadn't thought about that song for a long time, but then Eryn started singing (not really sining per say, but trying desperately to figure out the words) it, and I thought to myself "Hey! That's funny." And then I found twenty dollars. =)

My new favorite snack is a bananna with peanut butter on it. I just peel a banana and get out my jar of JIF peanut butter (creamy, of course) and smear it right onto the banana. I do a separate knife-full of peanut butter for every bite or else the banana would get messy and my hands would be all sticky and banana-y. Milk is good with this snack, too, though any drink will do.

Several of my AP tests are next week. Two, really, which is a lot less than some of those IB diploma canidates have. But they're both on tuesday. And then after 2 hours of English and 3 hours of Statistics, I have to go to the biology review class for three more hours in order to get out of biology after my AP test on the 19th.

Ang and I went to see Fiddler on the Roof last night. My friend Ella was it- she played Tzeitel, I think. Is that the eldest sister? I think so. She was pretty great. =) My favorite character, though, is Hodel. And Far from the home I love is my favorite song, though I always forget about Little Bird (which Tevye sings after Chava marries that Christian Russian boy). That too is a pretty great song. I also saw Fiddler at the Boulder Dinner Theatre several years ago. That scene was amazing there. They pulled it off okay last night, too. Though Angie and I made fun the boy who played the Russian because he was so short. Really. He must have been in 6th grade. Maybe 5th. He made me laugh. But it was enjoyable. I do love a good musical. AND TONIGHT I'm going to see Fairview's "Don't Drink the Water" which should be amazing. It's my last FHS theater production EVER. That's slightly terrifying, I must admit.

The light was leaving
in the west it was blue
The children's laughter sang
and skipping just like the stones they threw
the voices echoed across the way
its getting late
I think, if you back up far enough, life looks like a early morning swimming pool. Really early morning- the sun just coming up and casting perfect reflections on the completely still pool. It's the perfectly classic and clichéd chlorine blue, or it would be, if the light bouncing off of it weren't so blindingly bright. And maybe, during certain centuries or generations, you can see the tiniest bit of mist rising off the pool into the air. The backstroke flags tie everything together. From the tadpoles to the cosmic universe- they're all connected by the triagular backstroke flags. The problem with that, though, is once you can see that far out, when you're not looking at just bits and pieces and pixels anymore, you don't ever want to zoom in. At least I wouldn't. For now, I'm content looking at life highly magnified.

I'm such a dork. What does that word mean, anyway? Today I wrote an email asking my friend if she was okay because I didn't know if I could ask her to her face. We're fairly close, too, closer than most, at least, I just have this irrational fear of talking or of being shut down before I start talking. Like telephones- I have a fear of talking on telephones, too, really. I'm getting better, though.

I'm not going in the stretch-Hummer Prom group. I hate stretch Hummers. Hummers in general, actually. But I'll miss those kids. But I like the other people in my new group, too, and I'll see the original group at Prom and after prom. And Billy has a pool, so I'm quite content. =)

Cause it's you and me and all of the people
With nothing to do, nothing to lose
And it's you and me and all of the people and
I don't know why I can't keep my eyes off of you

Ace was voted off American Idol yesterday. Thank goodness. Now we have to get rid of Kelly Pickler, and then all is well. Unfortunately, I don't care enough to actually vote. And wouldn't the show improve a lot if the votes were made AGAINST contestants instead of for them? Crueler, yes, but entertaining. I hope Kat McPhee wins. (I've caught the McPheever. How incredibly clever. =) )

Alan asked me to prom, it was exciting. "Just a friends, no offense". None taken, no worries. I'll get to wear my orange dress and have a boy to show off. It'll be fun, and I'm switching groups, so I don't have to break my moral values and ride in a Hummer. That actually wasn't the reason, but I am glad. I hate Hummers. They're one of the few things I truly hate, actually. Hummers and... yeah. I can't think of anything else at the moment. Let me get back to you on that. I hope Alan wears a tux. But I'll forgive him if he doesn't. Trevor didn't wear a tux last year, either.

I'm eating a marshmallow egg from Easter. It's delicious. Angie found more marshmallow eggs, but I found more marshmallow bunnies. The eggs are better, I think, but those bunnies are pretty good, too. I haven't even started by chocolate bunny yet. My mom doesn't bit off the years like Sally Forth does in that comic strip. It's not very good, except for the once a year Easter edition of chocolate bunny ear eating. Yummm.

We're having a graduation party at Meadows with lots and lots of people. And I mean LOTS. All the Meadows seniors are inviting people, and there are a lot of us. It'll be fun. I'm also having a party with Halycon. Party! Party! Party!

Today was senior ditch day. (4/20, you know. I never figured out how that became the national smoking pot day, but it is) I however, did not go get high, but instead went to biology class, and then did not go to english or public speaking. After Bio, I went to Caffe Sole with Kels, then home, then to lunch with mi madre, then I took a nap, then I went to the gym/swimming pool, then ate dinner, finished Radiohead. It's not that I don't have any friends to spend senior ditch day with, because I usually would have (and I did see Kelsey) but most of my friends are either a)Geeks and therefore went to all their classes or b)were in Greely on at a choir festival thing or c)at a Latin Convention in Estes Park or c)aren't seniors and therefore had no excuse to miss school. Ellen, actually, is on a college trip. That poor girl. She should just give up and come to Pomona with me. =) Anyway, my 4/20 was lovely.

"America has lost a giant tonight. And I have lost a friend. Leo McGarry devoted his life to public service, to the notion that every citizen is responsible for making this country a better place. That we have a sacred duty to participate in our democracy, to leave America stronger for the next generation. If I win this election, the country will be worse off because Leo McGarry will not be there to help me run it."

Hooray for West Wing! It was a lovely episode tonight- it was Requiem, Leo's funeral. Sigh. I admit, a few tears were spilled by me. Four more episodes!

Well, it's a marvelous night for a moondance
With the stars up above in your eyes
A fantabulous night to make romance
'neath the cover of october skies
I went on a night hike to Microwave Rock last night, after we got back from our field trip to Body Worlds and the planeterium. It was amazing. Thirteen of us went: myself, Margo, Ellie, Tomas, Trevor, Matan, Martina, Amy, Annamarie, Billy, Sam, Steve, and Scott. I don't normally hang out with those kids, so it was a welcome change of environment (Hally and Allie and Megan are slowly getting on my nerves. Angie, too, she didn't even tell me she was asked to prom! Huh- and we brag about how close friends we are.) And it wasn't a hard hike, nor long, but hiking at night gives you such a different experience. Microwave hike has a beautiful view of Boulder County, and though the night-view was slightly harder to interpret, it was incredible. We saw the reflection of houselights off Baseline lake, we watched a police car zoom down highway 36, we saw flashing lights of the airport, and the light polution of suburbian Denver. *sigh* it was great.

Body Worlds was great, too. Very crowded, I was quite surprised by the number of people there. But I've never seen anything like it. My favorite was the exploded-man. That was pretty great.

Off to the Baxters' for dinner! I really enjoy yahoo's launchcast radio.

I am just a poor boy and my story's seldom told
I've squandered my resistance for a pocketful of mumbles, such are promises
All lies and jest, still the man hears what he wants to hear
And disregards the rest, hmmm
Have I said how much I enjoy ice cream? Not enough, I'm sure. =) I had key lime pie ice cream at Glacier today. Yumm yumm. And though today is such a beautiful day, it's not quite cone-weather yet. Although I do love a good cone. But I'm fairly certain my choice of cup was correct. Yummmm. I think I could live at Glacier.

Man! I'm in a weird mood. All my friends are getting into colleges and deciding where they're going, while I decided in October and was accepted in December, so my drama hardly ever existed. But there are so many talented people at Fairview I wonder why all my friends aren't getting into their top schools. They deserve it, in my opinion. But so much is just luck, and it's hard to see that when you've just received your rejection letter. It's unfortunate. But, even if they didn't get into their top choice, most of my friends have schools that they will be quite content at. I went to a Pomona-person meeting yesterday and met a cute boy named Max who goes to Kent now, and probably Pomona next year. It was kinda fun, though I think I would have rather stayed home.

I am much too easily affected by other people's moods. I'm like a sponge! If my friends start to cry, I do too. If they're happy, it's very hard for me to stay in a foul mood (that doesn't happen very often. Usually I'm the happy one and they don't change) or if they're upset or depressed or tired, then for a few minutes, so am I. I need to get moods for myself, perhaps then I wouldn't be so wacked out in high stress times. Then again, it helps me understand if I remember what they're feeling. It's a toss up, I guess.

Just the two of us
We can make it if we try
Just the two of us
Just the two of us
Building big castles way on high
Just the two of us
You and I

Today Angie, Sarah and I filmed our KBCO commercial today. It was fun. We're film geniuses. I can't write what the plot line is yet, just in case someone steals our idea before Friday when the commercial is due. And we haven't edited AT ALL. That should be interesting. Sarah is much more involved than Angie or I. Not "involved" I guess, but more perfectionist oriented. I guess. But we love her none the less. Not that being a perfectionist is a bad thing, either, especially when it's not extreme. In 9th grade I spent hours at Kelsey's house working on a project that would have taken a fraction of the time by myself. I think I'm just less invested in most things I do. Not that I don't like them- but I like to get them done and over with. But people who take more care usually end up better, so they're pretty great, too.

Angie and I also went Prom dress shopping today. Mine's orange. Yes, I know, orange is not so beautiful of a color usually, but it's a gorgeous dress. I'm quite content. And my mom bought it for me.

Here's the next few weeks: this week- finally normal school-wise with 5 days and block schedule and everything. That'll be hard. Next Saturday: Second Saturday school (the first was yesterday, it was hard. But Emily (Jobe, not Poulos, who stared in my commercial) and Ellen and Meili and I worked together and kept me company. OH! I forgot:

Angie, El and I went to see Take the Lead and I highly recommend it. It was the classic story of the teacher who changes the lives of those inner-city kids who then compete again snots from upper-Manhattan. It wasn't brilliant, it wasn't tear-jerking or heart-wrenching, nor was it very original nor unique, but it was fun fun fun. Nothing like a feel-good-flick, if you ask me. I also saw V for Vendetta a few weeks back. That was also good, though not in the feel-good kind of way. V is certainly not type of movie I usually watch, but it was intriguing. Again, I recommend. Though you probably shouldn't watch the two movies in the same day- that would be too much of a contrast for a brain to deal with, I think.

Things I learned from "Mary Poppins"
  1. Mary Poppins can do anything
  2. But if she needs a hand, Bert the chimney sweep will help
  3. "Childhood slips like sand, through a sieve"
  4. A spoonful of sugar really does help the medicine go down
  5. Shaking a chimney sweep's hand is very lucky, indeed
  6. If you try hard enough, you can make a cymbal noise by nodding your head
  7. Talking circles around people is easier if you sing
  8. You don't have to explain everything
  9. Mary Poppins is never sacked
  10. Shooting blanks out of a cannon is good for shakin' things up every now and then
  11. Always give your tuppence to the bird woman
  12. Carpet bags are great
  13. A good laugh can do wonders. Literally
  14. Some people laugh through there teeth, goodness sakes, hissing and spitting like snakes
  15. "It turns out, with due respect, when all is said and done, that there's no such thing as you!"
  16. Really cheesy jokes are hilarious when told on the ceiling
  17. Well begun is half done
  18. Learning how to snap is quite important, just in case Mary Poppins helps you clean up the house
  19. Enough is as good as a feast
  20. "And what would happen to me, may I ask, if I loved all the children I said good-bye to?"
  21. A screever's an artist of highest degree
  22. People always complicate things that are really quite simple
  23. You can dance on the breeze, over houses and breeze, with your hand holding tight to the string of your kite
  24. People who get their feet wet, must learn to take their medicine.
  25. Practically perfect people never permit sentiment to muddle their thinking
  26. Talking umbrellas are all the rage
  27. Piecrust promises (ones "easily made, and easily broken") are useless
  28. Spoiled eggs are great for throwing at people
  29. Changing plans is perfectly fine, even if you were planning on buying fish
  30. Tea, however, should never be disturbed
  31. It's also easier to insult people if you're singing at them
  32. "Goats butt, birds fly, and children who are going on an outing with their father must get some sleep"
  33. "Sometimes a person we love, through no fault of his own, can't see past the end of his nose."
  34. Never loan any money to those darn colonists.
  35. "While stand the banks of England, England stands"
  36. "They makes cages in all sizes and shapes, you know. Bank-shaped some of 'em, carpets and all."
  37. A chimney is a wondrous thing
  38. I'll always want to dance on roof tops at sunset
  39. Mary Poppins is never sacked
  40. Supercalifragilisticexpealidocious- I shouldn't have to say more
